Obituary for Norma Jenkins Coleman

Norma Jenkins Coleman
Norma Dean Coleman
Sebastian, Florida
July 6th, 1921 to April 10th, 2017

Norma Dean Coleman (Aunt Dizzy), age 95, passed away April 10th, 2017 at Sebastian River Medical Center. She was born July 6th, 1921 in Thackery, OH to Judson Wiley Jenkins and Julia Ann Shell.

Norma Dean moved to St. Cloud, FL at a young age and met the love of her life, Louis Victor Coleman Jr., before the conclusion of high school. They settled in Eau Gallie, FL in the mid-1940s where Louis started Coleman Pharmacy, which remained a pillar of the community until the early 1970s.

In Melbourne, Norma Dean was a Gardenette and an active member of her community. For 32 years, she spent her summers in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Hendersonville, NC. In 2013, she relocated to Sebastian, FL to be closer to her family.

She was known for her loving and independent disposition. She enjoyed gardening and nature, as well as entertaining and sharing her home with friends and family. She reminisced about growing up in Ohio and St. Cloud and her stories always garnered a laugh and the interest of those around her.

She was a loved and admired mother to Victor, Dean, Cynthia, and Loren Coleman; grandmother to Loren Jr., Andrew, Kelly, Lauren, and John; and great-grandmother to Koral.

Norma Dean is survived by her sister Barbara Arcidiacono, and predeceased by her husband of 50+ years, Louis Victor Coleman, Jr., brother Harold Jenkins, and sisters Martha Stephenson, Lois Young and Thelma Hildebrand.

A gathering of family and friends will take place at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 17 at Davis Seawinds Funeral Home, 560 Montreal Ave., Melbourne, FL 32935, DavisSeawinds.com.
