Obituary for William George Stacey

William George  Stacey
William (Bill) George Stacey age 86 of Melbourne Beach died March 8, 2017.

He was born in Montreal Canada on September 6, 1930. Bill graduated from Rollins College with a bachelor’s degree in Business. He was married to Maria for 62 years.

William was a retired Chief Warrant Officer in the United States Army after 28 years service. On July 4, 1950 he was assigned to the 24th Infantry Division 13th Field Artillery in Korea.
Later William was with the 1st Infantry Division in the Vietnam War. He received the Bronze Star W/2 OLC, the Air Medal Meritorious Service Medal in Ground Operations against hostile forces and other meritorious achievements medals in the military.

William was a former Mayor for the Town of Melbourne Beach. He was a world traveler and loved meeting people. His love of people and love of community continued long after his retirement.

William was a volunteer at Holmes Regional Medical Center, PAFB pharmacy, and the American Red Cross. He was a Mason with the Knights Templar and the recipient of the York Cross of Honor.

He was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Melbourne, where he volunteered in many ministries,

He is survived by his children Deborah (Stacey) Westphal, Linda Sterling, Heidi Welch and son Ralph Stacey, and his grandchildren Elizabeth Stacey, Laura Stacey, Paul Sterling, Ben Welch and Stacey Welch.
